Expression of Interest for Casual Academic Clinical Nurse Facilitator Eligibility Listing

 


The UTS Faculty of Health is currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Facilitator to facilitate student learning in an off campus clinical setting. The Clinical Facilitator will assist the students to develop the knowledge, attributes and skills necessary to practice within the clinical environment as a beginning level Registered Nurse. The Clinical Facilitator will act as a professional role model for students and is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with healthcare partners to enhance students’ learning experiences.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Nurse Facilitator’s major responsibilities include:
  • Facilitation of formal and informal learning experiences of assigned students.
  • Collaborating with staff from clinical placement sites to ensure theoretical and clinical knowledge objectives of the subject can be met.
  • Assessing and enabling nursing students’ clinical and professional skill development so that they are able to achieve the clinical learning objectives stated in their subject outline.
  • Conducting formative and summative performance assessments.
  • Addressing clinical learning and assessment concerns in consultation with the Clinical Liaison Team (CLT). This may include the formation of Learning Support plans (LSP’s), unsafe reports or escalation of concerns.
  • Collaborating and working collegially with all parties involved in the organisation and support of clinical placements.
  • Acting as an ambassador for UTS

MAIN SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of 5 years post registration clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Proof of current or recent clinical experience, with a minimum of 80 hours clinical work within the last 12 months

The Clinical Facilitator will assist the students to develop the knowledge, attributes and skills necessary to practice within the clinical environment as a beginning level Registered Midwife. The Clinical Facilitator will act as a professional role model for students and is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with healthcare partners to enhance students’ learning experiences.

The Clinical Midwifery Facilitator’s major responsibilities include:
  • Accountability for the facilitation of formal and informal learning of the assigned students.
  • Collaborating with the clinical placement site to ensure that the student is able to meet the theoretical and clinical knowledge objectives as set out in the subject outline and in line with the NMBA standards for Midwifery (2018).
  • Enabling and assessing midwifery skill development in the clinical placement setting so that undergraduate midwifery students can achieve the clinical learning objectives as stated in their subject outline.
  • To act as a representative of UTS.
  • Conducting formative and summative assessments using the AMSAT and acting on learning and clinical concerns in consultation with the Bachelor of Midwifery Course Director. This may include the formulation of learning support plans or escalation of concerns.
  • Collaborating and working collegially with all parties involved in the process of placements.

MAIN SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Current registration as a midwife in Australia with no restrictions on practice, and principle place of practice being NSW.
  • At least 5 years clinical experience (full time equivalent) with at least 2 years conducting assessments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of conducting performance and assessments with students in clinical and/or simulation settings.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Midwifery Facilitator positions are only available within the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). Please only select this area in the EOI application.
